The open borders crowd feels safe in saying that immigration enforcement is a job for the federal government. That's because they know that the federal government run by President Obama and the DHS' Janet Napolitano are on the side of amnesty. THE RAPE TREE
Many human smugglers consider rape a part of the "price of admission" for women and young girls illegally entering the U.S. Victims are taken to an isolated area and raped. Often it is gang rape. Undergarments of the victims are displayed on what is known as "Rape Trees" as trophies of conquest.
You will hear advocates for illegal aliens claim that if we had "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" that the problem of rape wouldn't occur because "everyone" would immigrate legally thus avoiding the need for human smugglers. To anyone who believes this, I want to sell you the Brooklyn Bridge.
My wife who is a Mexican immigrant and a naturalized U.S. citizen, petitioned for three of her siblings in Mexico so that they could immigrate legally. Guess what, even though they could have immigrated legally, they decided to come illegally anyway. Why? Because as all Mexicans know, if you can get passed the border, you can enjoy all the benefits that legal immigrants enjoy -- BUT SOONER! -- get here, and it is virtually "legal to be illegal." That is why our government must secure the borders and enforce all existing immigration laws before there can be any discussion about what to do with the 20 million illegal aliens living in the "shadows."

Arizona's new law, SB1070, makes it a state crime to be in the U.S. illegally. Open borders groups such as the ACLU, MALDEF, LULAC and a myriad of others, have disseminated false information saying that the law will lead to profiling.
Not having read the text of SB1070 before condemning it, Attorney General Eric Holder and DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano left no doubt that they had their minds made up in advance to kill the law.
The liberal left has amplified on President Obama's statement that taking your kid out to buy an ice cream could land you in jail if you didn't have your "papers." It's no wonder that the president of Mexico jumped on the bandwagon with his speech to congress that brought a shameful standing ovation by the Democrats.
If Holder and Napolitano didn't read the law, do you think all the street demonstrators and college professors did?
Let's be honest. The politicians, the president, the ACLU, MALDEF, LULAC, academia, communists, America haters, etc., and all open border advocates oppose SB1070 because they don't want our immigration laws enforced -- each with their own agenda -- the left wanting future voters and the right wanting cheap labor sources.
The truth is that SB1070 is a fair law that has been wrongly characterized. Read an analysis of SB1070 by Chris Kobach here.
Federal activist Judge Susan Bolton's gutting of some of the key provisions of SB1070 has the open borders crowd popping open Champagne bottles.
The key word of SB1070 being overlooked is "Required." Enforcement of the provisions of SB1070 are already legal and constitutional. What makes SB1070 different from existing enforcement of immigration law is that under SB1070, enforcement of its provisions is Required. For example, under existing state law, a police officer who stops a speeder (of any color) who cannot produce a drivers license or any kind of identification and cannot be found on any of the state's databases, may be arrested if the officer chooses to do so. After arrest, the speeder's immigration status may be determined and if the suspect turns out to be an illegal alien, he/she is turned over to ICE. The scenario is no different under SB1070 with the exception that the officer is REQUIRED to arrest the speeder.

The SB1070 fiasco is virtual proof why border and internal immigration law enforcement is NOT possible as part of so called Comprehensive Immigration Reform.
...What advocates call 'comprehensive immigration reform' is sold as a package, a grand bargain, of amnesty for illegal aliens (and increased legal immigration) in exchange for tougher enforcement in the future. But if the Arizona experience has taught us anything, it's that any new enforcement measure will be tied up in the courts for years. This makes a grand bargain impossible, almost by definition: The amnesty part of the deal would be implemented immediately, while the promised enforcement would languish in court and might never survive...
